Summary of Book
Farzana's Journey is a narrative about a young girl, who must walk a long distance to fetch her family's water. Her usual journey develops into an adventure as she meets animal characters, who relay a story about her ever-changing environment and the subsequent human adaptation. The book was written as part of Vanderbilt University's research on the coevolution of physical and human systems in southwest Bangladesh.
Author Biography
Chelsea’s project includes the writing, illustration, publishing, and distribution of a place-based children’s book for the villages she works with in Southwestern Bangladesh.
Chelsea’s research interests include groundwater-surface water interactions in Bangladesh, anthropological impacts on water quality, and conservation of natural environments.
Illustrator Biographies
Chip Boles: A native of Nashville, TN, I am a life-long artist, illustrator, and educator, focused on drawing in various media. I’ve worked as an art director and illustrator in digital and traditional media. My illustrated children’s book The Yokai Character Collection has been featured in The New York Times and my clients include The Wall Street Journal and CNN. I have worked as a scenic artist/muralist with productions for the Nashville Children’s Theatre, the television show Nashville, Taylor Swift Productions, and Netflix. I’ve been exhibited and published internationally.
Ayomide Sanusi: Ayo is a Nigerian illustrator & visual artist creating socially conscious art through colorful & lighthearted drawings. She has a BA in Studio Art & Economics from Vanderbilt University in Nashville, TN
